In a bold move to redefine the future of instrumental music careers in Nigeria, Wiflow successfully hosted the first-of-its-kind masterclass titled “New Year, New Me, New Sound” – a music career reset experience designed specifically for instrumentalists across multiple categories.
For years, instrumental musicians like trumpet players, saxophonists, string players, percussionists, and horn specialists etc. have remained under-recognised despite their immense skill and contribution to the music ecosystem. While many master their craft technically, very few are equipped with the tools needed to build visibility, positioning, and sustainable careers.
This masterclass was created to change that narrative.
Supported by MyMuute, the four-day experience revealed practical, often hidden principles that separate the few successful instrumentalists from the many who remain unseen.
A 4-Day Deep Dive Into Career Growth for Instrumentalists
Each day focused on a specific instrumental category, bringing respected industry leaders into the room to share practical insights.
Day 1 – Trumpet & Horns Day
In partnership with the Nigerian Trumpet Guild, Day 1 featured:
- Olabiyi Julius
- Babatunde Shosanya (representing the Nigerian Trumpet Guild)
The day was further strengthened by ambassadors Olasupo Joy and Okiki Gideon, creating a powerful ecosystem of mentorship and representation for horn players.
Day 2 – Saxophone Day
Saxophonist Raphael Lasisi led the conversation for Day 2, alongside ambassador Goodluck Kegbru (Goodysax), offering clarity on branding, professionalism, performance positioning, and long-term growth for sax players.
Day 3 – Strings Day
Clinton Akinkuolie (Clintonicstrings) and Israel Peter (Easystrings) took center stage to guide string instrumentalists through career refinement strategies, performance excellence, and positioning beyond events into structured career growth.
Day 4 – Percussion Day

Beyond Performance: Conversations That Matter
Across all four days, the conversations went deeper than performance skill.
- Jeremiah Ibiwoye (Jeremy) served as Event Host.
- Sewande Cadmus anchored the Red Carpet experience.
- Samuel Oghenejaboh (Sammyflow), CEO of Wiflow, led the panel and conversation sessions throughout the masterclass.
Special guest Olusola Peter, CEO of Waves Ambassador, contributed expert insights across all four days; bridging the critical gap between instrumentalists and sound engineers, and explaining the importance of understanding live sound production, audio engineering relationships, and stage technicalities.
Additionally, Caleb Nwachinemere (N. K. Caleb), CCO of wiflow, delivered impactful sessions on “Media as a Tool for Visibility,” helping instrumentalists understand how digital presence, content, and storytelling influence career growth in today’s industry.

More Than an Event: A Movement
“New Year, New Me, New Sound” was not just another music gathering. It was a strategic intervention.
The core message was clear:
Skill alone is no longer enough.
Instrumentalists must understand:
- Branding and positioning
- Industry relationships
- Media leverage
- Professional structure
- Monetisation beyond performance
This event marked the beginning of a new culture; one where instrumental musicians are empowered not just as players, but as brands and business owners.
